What Makes the Phantom Surge 14 Different
Most electric boats on the water today are conversions. Someone took a combustion boat, pulled the engine, and bolted a battery box where the fuel tank used to sit. The Phantom Surge 14 is not that. The battery, the motor, the jet drive, the cooling loop, the display and the control software are specified together as one system, by the same people, in the same shop. That is why the throttle feels like a single machine responding rather than three suppliers’ parts negotiating with each other.
Three Drive Modes, One Boat
Cruise is the mode you will live in — efficient, predictable, and metered live on the Garmin display so you always know how much water you can still cover. Peak unlocks the full output of the axial-flux motor for holeshots, hard corners and the runs you talk about afterwards. Silent Stalk holds the boat at low power for extended near-silent running: no idle, no exhaust, no engine note carrying a kilometre downstream. Hunters, wildlife photographers and anyone who has ever spooked a shoreline understand that mode immediately.
Why the Phantom Surge 14 Lives in Shallow Water
A dual-stage jet and a hull that draws six to twelve inches means the Phantom Surge 14 runs up channels that stop propeller boats at the mouth. Reinforced reverse chines keep it planted through a turn and lifting strakes bring it onto plane early — which matters far more on a braided northern river than any top-speed number does. There is no lower unit below the hull and nothing to shear off, so a gravel bar is an inconvenience rather than the end of the weekend.
Built and Tested in Grande Prairie
Every Phantom Surge 14 is assembled in Grande Prairie, Alberta and tested on the rivers it was designed for. That is not a line about local pride — it is how the boat gets better. Breakup silt, shale ledges and forty-below winters are conditions you cannot simulate in a spreadsheet, and each of them has already changed something in the design.
The Surge is engineered against Transport Canada Small Vessel Regulations and the ABYC E-11 and TE-4 standards for AC/DC electrical systems and electric propulsion, and drives a Hamilton Jet dual-stage unit.
