Phantom Spark — electric mini jet boat, design concept

The Phantom Spark is an electric mini jet boat built for water most boats never touch — creeks, side channels and gravel-bar rivers only inches deep. Entry-level price, ultra-shallow capability, and pure fun. This is where the Phantom story starts for most riders.

Why an Electric Mini Jet Boat Changes Shallow Water

A mini jet boat already goes where a propeller boat cannot. Replace the outboard with an electric driveline and two more limits disappear. Torque arrives the instant you touch the throttle, which is exactly what you want when you are threading a gravel bar and need the hull up on plane inside a boat length. And the noise goes away. On a river like the Wapiti or the Smoky, the loudest thing aboard becomes the water under the hull.

There is no propeller on an electric mini jet boat, and no lower unit hanging below the hull waiting to find a rock. Water is drawn through an intake in the bottom of the hull and pushed out through a steering nozzle at the transom. Nothing spins outside the boat. For a first boat, for a rental fleet, or for anyone who has ever put a skeg through a shale ledge, that difference is the whole argument.

An Electric Mini Jet Boat Sized for the Peace Region

Northern Alberta is shallow-water country. Our rivers braid, drop and move their channels every spring breakup, and the good water is rarely the deep water. The Spark is built for exactly that: light enough to launch off a gravel approach with no concrete ramp, small enough to trailer behind almost anything you already own, and short enough to turn around in a channel you probably should not have gone up. The hull is welded 5083 marine aluminum, so it takes the abuse and resists corrosion if you ever run it in salt.

Run One Before You Buy One

The Spark is also the boat we plan to put into the rental fleet at The Edge Proving Grounds. Buying a boat you have never driven is a big ask. Spending an afternoon on one first is a much smaller one, and it is the fastest way to understand what an electric jet drive actually feels like from behind the wheel.

Every Phantom is designed against Transport Canada Small Vessel Regulations and the ABYC E-11 and TE-4 standards covering AC/DC electrical systems and electric propulsion on recreational boats.
