EDDY

Concept illustration — the final electric search and rescue boat platform will be developed with first-responder partners.
The Eddy is an electric search and rescue boat in development — purpose-built for the people who go out when everyone else comes in. We are looking to design it with search & rescue organizations, so if your team wants input on the platform, we want to hear from you.
Planned Features
- No propeller — safe operation around people in the water
- Silent approach — hear victims, communicate clearly
- Shallow-water capability for river and flood response
- Instant torque for fast deployment
- Rugged, mission-critical design philosophy
Design Targets
| Platform | 24′+ utilitarian hull — in development |
| Mission | Search & rescue, government, and commercial operations |
| Crew | 6+ with equipment |
| Drive | Electric jet — no propeller hazard around swimmers |
| Status | Pending SAR partnership — specifications to be finalized with first responders |
All Trails Edge boats: 100% electric jet drive • no propeller • designed for shallow water • designed to meet Transport Canada SVR & ABYC E-11/TE-4 (not certified) • designed and to be assembled in Grande Prairie, AB. All figures are design targets until tested.
The Eddy is a search and rescue concept. With no propeller, nothing spins in the water near a swimmer or a rope. A quiet electric drive should let crews hear voices, whistles and radios, and the jet drive is meant to reach shallow, debris-filled flood water.
There is no fuel aboard and no cold-start routine; the boat would charge wherever the command post has power. Deck layout, lighting, comms and crew seating are not final. We want SAR teams, fire departments and agencies in Alberta and B.C. to help specify them, at no cost or obligation.
The Eddy is being designed to meet Transport Canada Small Vessel Regulations and ABYC E-11 and TE-4. Specifications on this page are a concept target, not a finished product sheet.
